BOLT: ULTIMATE SEA COASTER
That is, while they will be new builds, they'll feature designs we have seen before. The ship’s extra space will allow for extra cabins, but it’s worth noting that the extra space isn’t quite that substantial — not enough that you would notice. All staterooms and suites on Viking Vela offer their own private verandas.
New Cruise Ships in 2024
Richard Branson’s adults-only (18+) cruise line will launch its fourth “Lady Ship” sometime in 2024 (the ship was delayed from its original launch date of late 2023) or in early 2025. The line is also planning a hands-on craft class where passengers can join a professional painter to create one of the traditional blue and white azulejos tiles seen throughout Portugal. Icon of the Seas isn't the only headline-grabber for Royal Caribbean in 2024.
Disney Adventure
The industry's estimated revenue for 2018 was USD 40 billion, with projected growth to USD 59 billion (2027). In terms of source passengers, the largest markets are North America (50+%) and Europe (30+%). The fastest-growing market is luxury cruising, with the largest companies being Viking Ocean, Viking Expeditions, Silversea, MSC Expeditions (separate fleet), Ponant, Hapag-Lloyd, RSSC-Regent.

River cruising in the United States has become more popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, as people look for sailings that are closer to home. American Cruise Lines, which owns its own shipyard in Maryland, has turned down other boat-building work so it can concentrate on cruise ships. American Symphony will debut on the Mississippi River in summer 2022 and American Serenade will launch at the end of 2022. With only 100 passengers, Emerald Azzurra promises an intimate yacht experience from a line that has already won accolades for its European river cruises. In addition to the above, newcomers for 2022 also include several more small expedition ships and other small vessels from such cruise operators as Silversea Cruises, Emerald Cruises and Atlas Ocean Voyages.
PERFECT DAY
And if we catch you feasting your eyes on our Beach Buns™, c’mon, who can blame you? It’s a fabulous way to enjoy delicious sandwiches made how you like, or even a just-got-grilled hot dog. Closing out the illustrious Oasis Class, Utopia of the Seas is a groundbreaking addition to Royal Caribbean’s fleet, promising to redefine the cruise experience. Set to welcome its first guests on July 22, 2024, this LNG-powered new build represents a significant milestone for the company.
Silver Ray will initially sail in Europe before repositioning to North America in December 2024 for winter sailings to South America and the Caribbean. Fares start at $4,600 per person, including transfers, for a nine-night South America sailing out of Panama City. Even the smallest cabins on Silver Ray will measure at least 357 square feet, which is unusually large for a cruise ship cabin. With every berth filled, Silver Ray will sail with 728 passengers — the same as Silver Nova and just 132 more than the three earlier Silversea vessels.
Note that in some cases, the new ships coming in 2023 will arrive months behind schedule due to ongoing pandemic-related construction delays at the shipyards that are building them. Thanks to these delays, the first sailings of a few ships that were expected to debut in 2023 — including Royal Caribbean's much-awaited Icon of the Seas — have been pushed to 2024. Among lines unveiling new ships that are sisters to vessels already in their fleets are Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Virgin Voyages and Celebrity Cruises. All in all, there will be more than 40 different dining and drinking venues on the ship, including 10 free dining options and 11 specialty dining options.
The line’s new cruise ship is Explora II and it offers nearly 500 ocean-facing suites (no interior staterooms here). The all-inclusive cruise line has decked this ship out with various ways to play, dine and drink your sea days away. There are more than six restaurants on tap, plus three outdoor pools and one indoor pool.
Cocktail recipes inspired by precious metals and gemstones, drinks served in exquisite glassware, plus garnishes like edible glitter to remind you of sunlight streaming through the waves from up above! All this glitz pairs perfectly with live music, making this the perfect place to relax with an elegant drink before or after dinner. From the moment you step aboard, we want you to feel welcomed and right at home. And with attentive service from a friendly staff that knows what hospitality means, you’ll find your Princess® ship truly is your home away from home. But compared to the rest of my mediocre meals on Icon of the Seas — including dinner at a specialty restaurant — my complimentary pork pita wrap from the food hall's Mediterranean-inspired stall was admittedly pretty decent. While I would've preferred a quieter atmosphere (the DJ did not, in fact, play smooth jazz), the pool's views, day beds, and lack of screaming children were hard to beat.
